Importance of A Healthy Breakfast
Every morning when we wake up, we become similar in a way. Hey, calm down, we did not all transform and have the same type of nose or anything, we all thought of something, guess what? Food!😅.
We can’t go a day without food and even if we do, we crave it. Our breakfast (hey not a breakup or heartbreak😂, if that is what is on your mind,that is not health) is the most important meal of the day. I mean it is the first.
Let me tell you a story
When I was in high school, I disliked being flogged but every morning when I wake up to prepare for school, I do not know why, but I am always behind the time and for fear of being beaten, I skip breakfast. 😒I know you did that too and some are still doing it.
Anyways, my teacher found out that I was either losing focus during classes, not active, tired, or on the verge of sleeping. Whenever he asked what was going on with me, I would just tell him that I was tired. One day, the usual happened, but he asked a different question.
He asked if I always skipped breakfast before coming to school for fear of coming late. I confessed my sins😞. He then said to me: “Do you know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day?" I didn't know what to say. Right now, I am a big advocate for breakfast😅.
After so much research, I have discovered that about 24%-87% of young adults skip breakfast a day(so huge). Meaning they skip the most important meal of the day. When I say breakfast, I mean a healthy breakfast.
As an advocate of breakfast eating, read through as I outline why eating breakfast is so important and why you should eat a healthy one.
My research and my personal experience has indicated three benefits we can get from not skipping breakfast and eating a healthy breakfast.
Time to spill the tea
I have realized that if you want to cut down on too much fat, do not skip breakfast. Do not do that😒. When we eat breakfast in the morning, we are not tempted to overeat during lunch or dinner, therefore preventing weight gain and even if we are chubby or fat, we tend to lose weight.
Which I know has been so many people’s dream because we all want to be models. I mean, we all want to be flexible, being able to carry ourselves and do so much which fosters my other point.
Hmmm, we all want to feel alive and one way to know if you are alive is if you are being productive or just stagnant. Think of the people in hospital beds who cannot move and are not active.
They are not happy with that and you would not be too if you were like that. We need energy in the morning to be able to be productive in school and at work.
In my own case, I have discovered that when I skip breakfast only to rush to work or to school, I realize that at the very beginning of my work, I seem smart but within a few minutes, I lose concentration and focus.
Have you ever felt so tired during the day's work even if it hadn’t been long since you started working😞?. Or have you ever felt so wonderful earlier in your brain work but now feeling like your brain is on lock downmode just after a few minutes of being smart💁?.
Well, that is because you did not have breakfast. It is said the breakfast helps a person maintain focus and concentration. Not to get tired easily and with that, always able to deliver results.
Students who eat breakfast every morning tend to have higher school grades because they are able to give maximal attention to their teachers but the students who do not eat breakfast tend to feel sleepy and tired.
This brings us to when and what we should eat during the mornings
What we eat and when we eat our breakfast plays a very huge role in determining whether or not we are going to benefit from it or not.
The right time for breakfast is being considered from 6 to 10am every morning. Then what should we eat?
Our breakfast should be made up of healthy combinations because it has a huge impact on our day. Our breakfast should contain carbohydrates, protein, fiber and vitamins.
Instead of having cakes or doughnuts in the morning, why not have some nuts, low fat milk, whole grain cereals, and the likes.
Do not also eat too much breakfast as too much of everything is bad. Too much food in the morning can cause dizziness thereby hindering focus and productivity.
The breakfast advocate has come to a nice conclusion
“Never skip breakfast and always eat a very healthy breakfast as it helps to keep us fit and on track”.
