Health Benefits and Preparation of A Sumptuous Chicken Feets

One of the most underrated foods in the world particularly in Nigeria is chicken feet. People believe eating chicken feet is unhygienic and unhealthy so they prefer throwing the chicken feet into the dustpan.

Some even go to the extent of saying they can't eat chicken feet because it has no meat, and it is full of bone. My dear eating chicken feet is not for the meat; it’s for the experience of spices, preparation method, and the resulting taste and texture of the collagen - sort of like the tips of chicken wings without any meat but people enjoy eating them.

Also, the Yorubas have this superstitious belief that if you eat chicken feet you will be roaming about😅. It sounds funny because you will never forget the taste of chicken feet for life.

And on this note, I welcome you to yet another fresh and informative episode on “The foodie’s blog”. Our focus today will be on the health benefits of chicken feet and how to prepare a sumptuous chicken feet sauce.  Bet you didn’t know it has some health benefits and how to enjoy your chicken feet.

Research from experts confirms that chicken feet are an alternative source of collagen. You might be wondering what collagen is; According to Deanne Robinson, MD, a board-certified dermatologist he said: “Collagen is a protein and is one of the main building blocks of our skin. It’s also found in our bones, tendons, and ligaments”.

As a result of the environmental factors, age, and bad lifestyles such as smoking, and poor diet collagen starts degrading in humans. Majorly, collagen is rich in calcium and protein, without carbohydrates. Some of its health benefits are that it provides healthier and younger-looking skin and It improves blood supply by strengthening the blood vessels among others.

The usual source of collagen is expensive so why pay so much when you can have a cheap or almost free alternative to getting collagen? Use chicken feet instead💁. To enjoy the benefits of collagen in the chicken feet, use it as a sauce for your rice or pepper soup.

Another health benefit of chicken feet is it prevents bone loss, aids your skin health, and relieves you of any joint pain that you might have. If you've not been eating chicken feet before or you don't like eating them, then you must try it out and of course, it is very tasty, delicious, and easy to prepare.

To people saying “I can't eat chicken feet because they will have their feet step on different kinds of dirt”😒. Let it be known to you now that after following these simple steps to washing your chicken feet you are free to eat your chicken feet dear;
